week 2 EOC

The following quotes while showing gaming to be in the question mark category can be misleading due to the time of year that market research was done and the fact that big game title debutes were postponed and yet to be announced. ("But last month, videogame sales plunged by a record 29% year over year, according to market-research firm NPD Group. Meanwhile, sales of consoles such as Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 and Nintendo Co.'s Wii plummeted 38%. The steep drops came on top of a gradual sales decline that began in March." WallStreet Journal July 28,2009 )  This quot shows microsoft , xbox and Nintendo consoles to be question marks. Although the sales dropped last month the following quote ( "As recently as six months ago, the videogame industry was racking up strong growth even as other businesses reported sharp declines in sales and profits. U.S. videogame sales jumped 10% in January as consumers snapped up $60 to $70 games, which can bring dozens of hours of at-home family entertainment." WallStreet July28, 2009)     shows a jump in January witch could return and potentially bounce back sales making these consoles cash cows at that time. Although there are other quotes in the same article witch could also project theses consoles to becoming dogs. mainly the quote: "Many console and PC game sales are also being cannibalized by digitally downloaded games and alternative entertainment sources like Apple Inc.'s iPhone, which offers thousands of games that can cost only 99 cents or even nothing at all."  There are factors such as the following quote    (  "But the recession has clearly exacerbated the falloff. "It's highlighting the weak months because if people don't really have a reason to go out to the store, they're not," said John Taylor, a financial analyst for Arcadia Investment Corp. in Portland, Ore., alluding to the industry's tendency to see the biggest sales during the year-end holiday season." WallStreet july 28, 2009) That would suggest that the gaming industry in general would be question marks due to many factors such as time of year that sales are calculated and the postponing of game debuts. It is the coming debut of big game titles being released by nintendo and x box 360 gaming consoles.

One of the biggest statistics that I fall in is being single but still happy and like most generation xers I  not opposed to marriage again but definetly will be a little skeptical of perfect relationships.
The so called Generation x era would be people born between the 1960's to the 1980's. This group holds the highest education and are family orientated and happy.A Generation that embraces cultural diversity and is tolorent of social groups and a mind towards longterms changes in society and community. A Generation whose world view is based on weeding out corruption and combating evil in the world. I feel on the whole that I do seem to fall in these catagories of generation x sometimes all to closely.I do feel a need to right the wrongs of the world and gravitating towards at least immediate family. I feel a strong pull towards academics and a need for family and community. At the time of my youth or in my early teens I agree to being not as in these catagories so much as now.

King Arthur Flour

The King Arthur Flour Co. has become one of nations oldest and best corporations working for a dual purpose of enhancing or improving the community. Many states such as Maryland ,New york ,New Jersey have passed legislation allowing companies to set forth a higher standard in the way they conduct buisness with the communities best interest in mind. "In becoming a Benefit Corporation recognized by Vermont state law, King Arthur Flour must adopt a corporate purpose of creating a material positive impact on society and the environment, and to require its directors to consider non-financial interests when making decisions." (King Arthur Flour.com) King Arthur flour has become a global leader for buisnesses interested in making social and enviromental concerns part of their bottom line. " “King Arthur Flour is a leader in the global movement to redefine success in business,” says Jay Coen Gilbert, cofounder of B Lab, the nonprofit organization that governs the B Impact Assessment and certifies B Corporations." (King Arthur Flour.com) A growing amount of companies are being drawn to being part of the so called B GROUP  when it has usually been taboo for a company to be part of any group. Being part of a group traditionaly has been considered bad buisness for companies. The new B corporations however are embracing this new standard as the global community are very much enviromentally conscious  and expect the companies that they buy goods and services from to be the same lest they lose the buisness of the more enviromentally conscious consumer. In taking on this new way of conducting buisness the company has been able to make many strides in contributing to community and raising their overall value for customers. "King Arthur Flour has initiated a voluntary recall of a limited number of its bags of flour due to the possible presence of small (7-9 mm) blue polyurethane balls that are used in the sifting process."  The company is also 100 % owned by employees witch gives every employee a vested interest in putting out a superior product . " America's oldest flour company will share tips and tricks this fall for easy home baking, from whole grain yeast breads to festive pies, at FREE baking demonstrations in Altamonte Springs, Tampa, and Fort Myers, Florida"  King Arthur Flour.com The reason for B corporation success is the growing consumer demand for for responsible and green orientated buisness practices.

"About me" I want to say that without a doubt that I bring a good deal of experience with me to any job. I have been fortunate enough to learn many skills as a craftsman and musician here in Las Vegas for the past twenty five years. I have learned that having a superior attitude in any field is a must for a person particularly for ones that find themselves in the entertainment industry.  People have a strong desire to work with not only knowledgeable but pleasant people as well. Creative people need feedback and a can do attitude to be successful .   I bring a hard working and disciplined work ethic to the table as a student of martial arts for thirty years and a guitar/saxophone player for thirty years as well. I have an attention for detail and quality in everything I undertake. My father was a drill seargent in the army and when I was a young boy things had to be perfect and exactly the way he wanted them to be with no variations. He passed away when I was a young boy and I thought maybe he was being hard on me and my brother. I was forced into the job market mainly construction as a young man and found out that only through these values that he had taught me was it possible to compete in this world and survive. I have always been able to overcome adversity and never gave up on a task or goal that I set for myself. I have always had a strong and positive attitude and I believe that luck favors the prepared. Ever since the story of David and Goliath was told to me as a child I always believed that men can rise to an occasion and overcome great obstacles if he only had the faith in himself and God.I have always prepared myself the best I could for a situation and have never been afraid to step up to the plate when called upon.

I recently joined a Band of musicians that are rehearsing very hard to put out an album and create value in their music and name. This reminded me of studies Ive done on groups and musicians that created a great product and customer service at there shows. Im reminded of the Beatles and how they always took time to talk to reporters and give interviews and always they were pleasant and very charming. I can also tell when performances were rehearsed to point of perfection and encores were given at shows as well as sound equipment sounding clear and concise with very little if any noise and musicians at shows were courteous and sober and very proffesional. These types of proffesionals are"strongly customer- focused and heavily committed to marketing". "Marketing more than any other buisness function deals with customers." In this way in respect to musicians the fans are the customers and the most successful of groups have had excellent relationships with their fan base and are sensitive to what the fans expect from them.Having been to many shows some stick out as being very proffesional and it coming thru in quality of venue, musicianship and sound quality. I have had recent conversations with my band as to some of the things that would constitute poor customer service in a band and its music." Some of these were poor musicianship, bad hygene and tardiness as well as not being pleasant and or proffesional to all involved. "At home,at work and were you play you see marketing in almost everything you do." Here in Las Vegas bands bring in consumers, customers, and fans to casinos and there product must be a pleasing and proffesional product to be considered for bigger and nicer venues in casinos and hotels of Las Vegas . I found that MGM casino and resort put out a very proffesional and clean venue as well as very organized and entertaining musicians who are held to a high standard by MGM entertainment . A great personal as well as entertaining experience was always felt at the MGM arena and the musicians picked to performe there.              Quotes from pg 5
